As we enter the Advent season, it's essential to remember that this time is not merely about nostalgia or tradition. While we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Advent also calls us to anticipate His return as the reigning King. Revelation 19 paints a vivid picture of Jesus not as a helpless infant but as a conquering King, riding a white horse, clothed in glory, and called Faithful and True. This duality of Jesus' humility in the manger and His authority on the throne challenges us to move beyond a sentimental view of Christmas to one of reverence and allegiance.

The sermon reminds us that Jesus' first coming only makes sense in light of His second. His birth was the beginning of a divine plan to seek and save the lost, but His return will bring justice and righteousness to the world. As believers, we are called to live under His reign now, acknowledging His authority over every aspect of our lives. This means our decisions, priorities, and actions should reflect our allegiance to Him as King. Advent is a time to recalibrate our reality, reminding us that history is not random, evil is not ultimate, and Jesus is not absent.

In this season of waiting, we are encouraged to wait confidently and hopefully, knowing that the story's end is certain. The child in the manger is the King who will return in victory. As we celebrate Advent, let it be a time filled with awe and not mere sentimentality. May our hope be anchored in Christ's reign, and may our lives reflect our allegiance to the King who has come, who reigns now, and who is coming again.
